WarGames
Plot:
WarGames is about David Lightman, a teenage
hacker who accidentally hacks into the North
American Aerospace Defense Command
(NORAD) computer system in an attempt to
access the computer system of a game
company. He believes that he has accessed the
computer system of the game company, and
tries to play the game "Global Thermonuclear
War." NORAD thinks that the program that
David started is real, and that the Soviet Union
is attacking them. David realizes his mistake,
and with the help of his friend Jennifer Mack,
and Professor Falken, who designed the
NORAD computer system. NORAD stops the
counter attack, but the NORAD defense
computer, War Operations Plan Response
(WOPR), attempts to gain access to the launch
code and launch the counter-attack anyways.
David tells WOPR to play a game of tic-tac-toe
against itself. It finds that it will never win, and
the game will always tie, and finds that the same
is true of a nuclear war. Learning this, WOPR
calls off the attack.
Review:
Overall, WarGames is a great movie, despite
some plot holes and bad acting. Specifically, the
acting didn't seem very realistic, and the actors
didn't seem to be really into the role of their
characters. The plot of the movie relies on some
coincidences to set up the story, but beyond
that is great. The movie is great aside form some
bad acting and plot holes. I give it 3.5/5 stars.
