Divergent
Summary

Divergent, by Veronica Roth takes place in the city of Chicago which is separated into five factions; Amity, Abnegation, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite. Amity is the peaceful, Abnegation is the selfless, Candor is the honest, Dauntless is the brave and fearless, and Erudite is the intelligent. Your faction is more important than your family. Having these five factions prevents war. Beatrice Prior, the main character in Divergent, is born Abnegation and does not feel like she fits in. She is now sixteen, and everyone in her grade will have to take a test which tells you what faction you belong in. Their test is different from any test they have ever taken; it will be a simulation test which puts you in situations to see the way you think. The very next day after everyone takes the test there is a choosing ceremony. When Beatrice takes her simulation she finds out confusing and scary news. She had three factions to choose from, Erudite, Abnegation, and Dauntless. This means Beatrice is Divergent. The test instructor, Tori tells Beatrice that being Divergent is very bad and do not tell any one, and she changes the results. Beatrice goes to the choosing ceremony with her mother, father, and Brother Caleb, who is also going to have to choose a faction. Her brother shockingly chooses Erudite leaving Beatrice a choice to stay with her parents or choose a different faction. Beatrice surprises herself when she chooses Dauntless. Now she shall leave choosing ceremony and prove herself to Dauntless. Beatrice gets to choose her name in the Dauntless compound and she chooses Tris. To become a Dauntless Tris has to do challenges against the nine other new initiates. The challenges are hard and brutal from jumping off trains, throwing knives, fighting, and fear simulations. Because Tris is Divergent she is able to manipulate the simulations which shows her trainer, Four/Tobias that she is Divergent. Tris has to hide that she is Divergent throughout the book and become a true Dauntless by using her bravery to fight against the Erudite.

Review
Divergent is an amazing book which I recommend to everyone. Beatrice is my favorite character; she is brave, smart, and selfless. Beatrice has an important role in the book and she fits the role perfectly. She expresses her emotions very well and all her reactions are realistic. Each character in the book is amazing because like Beatrice they all express their emotions very well. Divergent brings many emotions to you from scared to anxious. I was hooked to Divergent because it had lots of action scenes, which I love. The book is very interesting and is impossible to put down.
