The plot in the movie Lincoln is identical to the events that actually happened during the time of the Civil War. It's about how President Lincoln gets the 13th amendment passed to free the slaves. It shows his struggles and the way he persuaded each senator to vote in his favor. It also shows how hard the Civil War was on people and every day life. It mentions the loss of Lincoln's son, as well as a scene from the battle at Gettysburg. At the end it doesn't actually show President Lincoln being shot but it does show the families reaction and others too. It shows Lincoln with his wife watching a play at Ford's Theatre and then goes into a separate scene going on in another theatre. Lincoln's youngest was watching a play there. Suddenly a man runs onto the stage and frantically announces that Lincoln was shot.
I thought this movie was very well done. It really does a good job accurately explaining what Lincoln did to pass the 13th amendment. Daniel Day Lewis did an amazing job of impersonating Lincoln. He researched his tone of voice, attitude, hair style, and even the way he walked. The other characters in the movie were also very realistic as well. The scenery also very accurately recreated. Although there are some parts of the movie that were a little boring (like the persuasion of the senators and debating,) this movie is very much worth seeing, and a very good way to learn about our history.
