Bunnicula
The story is about a red eyed bunny who was discovered in a
movie theater by the Monroe Family, the bunny was named
Bunnicula since the bunny was found in the theater where the
movie Dracula was playing. The story was told through the eyes
of a dog named Harold, with his literate cat friend named
Chester. The cat Chester, with his wild imagination, speculated
that Bunnicula is a vampire because of strange sucked out
vegetables left around the house. Chester was determined to
destroy the rabbit before it harms the Monroe Family, Harold
did not believe Chester but helped him anyway. The dog and
cat tried humorous ways of ridding the rabbit, such as stabbing
it with a t-bone steak. The story concluded with Chester leaving
the rabbit alone with damaged pride and the house animals
ended it up bonding near the fireplace.
I found the book to be mysterious and humorous at the same
time, the animal personifications were very intriguing and
their creative minds were quite amusing. The overall plot
was very exciting for a children's book. I found the cat
Chester to be very arrogant, thinking that he's smarter and
superior to his dog friend Harold. The character Harold is
quite delightful since he's so nice and cute. The book kept my
heart on a string of excitement, since I read it when I was
nine years old. This is a great children summer book, a must
read for ages seven through thirteen.
